Our “Go Green” Plan of Action (p.2)

Transportation:

All our delivery vehicles have GPS navigation systems. This not only cuts down on the amount of paper used in printing directions but it ensures our drivers do not get lost, driving unnecessary miles and reduces emissions. Our deliveries are scheduled in 2 drops morning and afternoon to ensure we make the least amount of runs in the most efficient way possible. Our vehicles are strictly maintained every 3500 miles with checkups and oil changes, ensuring they run in the most clean and green way possible.

Electricity:

There are many ways that Chelsea Floral Designs conserves electricity, the main being through our flower coolers. Our hand-built walk in cooler uses 2 specially modified air conditioning units that cycle on and off only when needed. We use compact florescent light bulbs and timers so our lights switch off automatically. Our outside lights are on motion sensors too.

Waste, Composting and Cleaning:

All plant waste not limited to stems, leaves, greenery and flowers are composted several times per week. We have separate containers for plant material, plastic, paper and cardboard. We do not use any bleach products in our cleaning of buckets, coolers or surfaces. We use a combined cleaner and disinfectant approved by the EPA. To read more please click here.

At Chelsea Floral Designs we are dedicated to the ideals of Eco-Friendly business. We employ this list of practices to ensure that our environmental footprint is as small as possible. From the way we invoice our clients to our marketing and communications which are all facilitated by email instead of paper; we will always be re-evaluating and adding to this action plan. If you have any suggestions please let me know!

Best wishes
